About Us

The Tiverton’s New Generation Majorettes is a friendly troupe that encourages team work, dedication and motivation. We rely heavily on donations and sponsorship for funding and take part in many fetes, carnivals and competitions.

We have no age limit within our troupe, we currently have majorettes training from the age of two to thirty four. Having said this, please bear in mind that not all majorettes are able to compete, this is down to their individual ability and their commitment to the troupe.

Age Groups:

  • 8 years and under Tiny - Tot
  • 9 - 12 Years Junior
  • 13 and over Senior

Based on majorettes age as of 1st January.

Sections

We train three different sections for the juniors and seniors and two for the tiny - tots.

Military:
This section is all about marching in formation and discipline, it is important that lines stay straight and majorettes count their own individual beats to make up a polished routine.

Pom - Poms:
This is a fun and energetic routine performed with pom - poms. The majorettes form various formations and use both their pom- poms and bodies to create different effects/moves, this is all done to dance music.

This is a great section for all ages and abilities to take part in.

Baton Twirling:
This is a much more technical routine to perform, like the pom - pom routine it is dance moves and formations performed to dance music, however the baton must be incorporated into the dance move as well. The basic baton moves are: Cartwheel spin, forward and backwards figure of eight and a flat spin. Then you can advance to finger twirls, body, neck and elbow rolls etc, as well as throws and exchanges.
